Today I had the chance of visiting Alicia and her new baby girl… Aralyn Rayne (another great baby name).  This little sweetheart is only 1 week and 4 days old!  She was awake the whole time while I was in their home, and we managed to get some great shots of her and Ellie.  When photographing babies, there’s always the hope to get some snuggly sleepy photos, but what I’ve learned from my experience with little ones is that you can only work by their schedule!  So that’s exactly what we did… and thanks to Ellie, her big sister, for being such a great help

I think Ellie is going to be the best big sister ever!  She’s been waiting for this day as long as mom and dad!

Welcome to the world Aralyn Rayne!!

The days are counting down quickly to the arrival of our little Eli, which will turn our family of 2 into a family of 3.  I have to admit, I have complete mixed emotions about this ‘event’ on a daily basis.  I have moments of freaking out “EVERYTHING’s GOING TO CHANGE” to “I CAN’T WAIT to meet him”.  Here’s a question I’ve been asking myself a lot lately:  How can I better prepare myself (emotionally/mentally) for this baby?  I know everyone tells me “you’ll never feel ready”… but I’m wondering if there are any unique ways that helped some of you mother’s out there prepare yourselves for your first baby.  I’d love to hear your stories!

On another note… Last Saturday, Chris & Christine had their baby girl Leah Joy Vienna (isn’t that a great name?!) and I can tell that even since meeting her something inside of me got really excited for Eli.

Only a few months ago we had the chance to fly out west to take photos of Julia’s baby bump and now the bump is gone and baby Ethan has arrived.  When Ethan was born I was so excited because we were heading back west for Jeannine & Glenn’s wedding, which meant I was gonna get to see him…  I knew we needed to take a few minutes out from the crazy wedding festivities to snap a few shots of this beautiful family of THREE!

Even though Ethan was having a little bit of a bad day and we only had a few minutes with them, we managed to capture a few great shots of this little guy!!

It’s always our delight to meet up with you Mike & Julia (and now Ethan)… next time it will have to be longer!! xox

I want to introduce you to Rachael, Carter’s little friend.  You may remember Carter from a few months back — I took a few photos of him and his proud parents when he was just brand new to the world.  Well… Rachael just loved those photos I took, and she decided that she wanted some of her own.  I told her I’d only photograph her if she’d be on her best behaviour  (translation:  she had to be cute).

So when she turned 6 months, Mom & Dad dressed her up and brought her over… and all I can say is that she was definitely CUTE & LOVELY the entire shoot!!

Alright… now onto Carter. What a precious little guy – 2.5 weeks old.  I was telling his mommy Kariann, that I don’t know the last time I held a newborn.  It’s been a very very    l  o  n  g    time.

You should know that Carter came about 3 weeks too early but he weighed 6lbs 8oz.  So he was perfect! This is the story: Aaron and Kariann were having a nice romantic weekend away in Niagara Falls (they wanted to have some time for each other before the baby came) and right in the middle of that weekend away… Carter decided it was time to meet the world!
Seeing that they were 1.5hours away from home, Aaron drove as fast as he could to get back to Guelph in time to have the baby (you’ll have to ask him how long it actually took them to get here)… let’s just say it was just like the movies! LOL!!
And after only 4 short hours of labour – Carter Aaron was born!

I used my two new lenses and loved them both.  The 50mm 1.2f lens is an allstar!!!! The 100mm 2.8f macro is so wonderful for these beautiful closeup detailed shots…  mmmmm yummy!
