friendship: my life

Did you know:

  • National Friendship Day is on the first Sunday in August.
  • Women’s Friendship Day is on the third Sunday in August
  • International Friendship Month is February
  • Old Friends, New Friends Week is the third week of May

Obviously… it’s none of those dates today, but I recently had the chance to meet up with two of my greatest friends.  And when I say “great” I mean… people I can be myself with whenever we get together – even though we haven’t talked or seen each other in months… people who love me for who I am.

I guess I’m just having one of those “thankful for my friends” days :)

University of Guelph Graduation Photography | smart people: graduations

The following 5 people are very smart…………. 4 of them (Sarah, MIchelle, Mike & Kyle) are graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Physics and 1 of them (Natasha) is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Physics.

I remember liking chemistry back in highschool because I had a sweet teacher (shout out to Mrs. Chisholm) – but liking science and having a career in science are two totally different things :) I could NEVER see myself heading in that direction.  So in my opinion, someone graduation with a degree in science is pretty amazing.

Great job guys :)

And now for the fun stuff….

great friends after 4 great years!!

you’ve met Michelle before… this is my sister!!

this is Kyle

the very silly & hilarious Mike (and beautiful girlfriend Laura)

this is Sarah

and last, but definitely not least, Natasha — also known as N-bar????? (they tell me “N-bar” is a science term)

love this shot.  it has such a “one tree hill” or “OC” feel to it… LOL!!!! don’t you think???

I couldn’t resist – I love all of your expressions in this one!

THE CHEMICAL PHYSICISTS

All the BEST in your future endeavours :)

Guelph Baby Photography | nicholas: little ones

Every once in awhile I have a chance to take photos of little ones :) I met this little guy Nicholas a few years back when he was first born……… and I haven’t seen him since!!  I was shocked when I saw him – he had grown so tall.  But once I met his dad, I realized where he gets it from!

He had sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much energy!!! Half way through the shoot, I removed a few layers because I was getting a workout running after him.  lol.

Anyway here are few favourites…

I had a bright idea to have Nicholas chase me with leaves…. that was a game we played for a LONG time!!

SO FUN!

Nicholas’ parents…

the next photo looks like Justin when he was a kid…..

Red Deer Wedding Photography | rhonda & jordan: weddings

Our next wedding took us to RED DEER, ALBERTA for Rhonda and Jordan’s wedding.  These two are NOT hard to love :)  Wonderful people and friends.  Justin has known Jordan for many years, and I met Jordan in first year of college (oh my goodness – that was 7 years ago…………….).
As for Rhonda… we were both VERY interested to meet the woman who was going to marry our friend.

As soon as I met her, I approved — not that Jordan needed MY approval :) but…. it’s always nice to know you’re friend is marrying a wonderful person!!

I was so honoured when they asked me to photograph their wedding.  I knew I could help them get some GREAT shots.  And that’s exactly what happened…… we got some good ones!!

silly. beautiful. memorable.

and here are the ladies… looking fierce!

this is janelle (jordan’s sister) “awwing” about her first personalized pen (she’s a writer)

something very important to the two of them…

JORDAN!!

almost as soon as we left the ceremony… we re-entered and had a short reception.

this is JJ (jordan’s brother) sharing his speech and making EVERYONE laugh :)

this is nicole… TOTALLY NOT prepared for a speech – and then there’s a typical look from Jordan encouraging her on!

the next few are some of my favourites… on our way to their “planned” location, we stumbled on this industrial looking underpass

LOVE this one!

the silliest group of people I’ve ever worked with…. I took this shot at least 15 times and barely came out with a decent one!!! (at least we had fun :) haha!)

HOT

I was loving the lighting at this point

Jord and Rhonda… love you guys!!

Guelph Wedding Photography | jennifer & mike : indian wedding

I didn’t have to go far to shoot Jenn & Mike’s wedding – yay for Guelph :)

I loved their wedding for its different multi-cultural elements.  Although, both Canadian… Jennifer’s East Indian roots are a very important part of her life.  So why not have a Canadian-Indian wedding?  Great idea!

** It’s always so special for your guests to experience your important cultural elements (at least I was pumped!!)

The meal was 1/2 Canadian and 1/2 Indian (1st course: antipasta, ladoo, and samosa & tamarind sauce… 2nd course: chicken biryani (rice with chicken, almonds, cashews and apricots) & mint chutney (mint with green peppers).

AND to kickoff the late-night party was phenomenal with Indian drummers & traditional “bhangra” dance.

colourful. spiritual. multi-cultural.

Meet Jennifer… the happiest bride EVER!!!

Meet Mike… very passionate about his bride!! (you’ll see in the next photo)

this was a “must have” for them… a shot with their names engraved at the covered bridge

yummy. I’m posting this mostly to bug Justin… because he left me for a few minutes and MISSED dessert!!! shame.

gorgeous in their ”lengha” (hers) and “jodpur” (his) indian outfits

let the party begin!!

and of course I had to get a shot with the good looking couple… even though I look tired after 10 hours of shooting :)

many blessings on your marriage!!!
